As I understand it 2.0.1 disabled gold trading between players, like this. Same time AH was still up and running with option to purchase gold from RMAH like pre-2.0.1.

Now that AH is closed down we still can't trade gold when standing face to face with other players. I wonder why is that? What is Blizzard's reasoning to e.g. prevent me from purchasing gems from my friend with gold that I have farmed?

I tried googling about this and didn't find any answers. I have tried hitting Blizzard up about this through Twitter, but like you may guess no response of any kind.
