Skype Not Showing Notifications
I don't get any notifications for any of my contacts while the app is. I definitely have all notification settings turned on and I've allowed Skype to run in the. You can see the two screen shots which show that this is happening. I have had the new version of skype downloaded onto my phone for awhile and it has never given me issues until yesterday. It doesn't give me any push notifications while I am not in the app (no noises, banners, vibrations, sounds or preview of the message at all). Microsoft has rolled out another way for you to stay on top of your Skype notifications: email. As spotted by Windows United, you can now receive email alerts for missed calls and messages in Skype.
The settings appear to be turned on by default, which could prove to be a bit annoying for those who don't really need email alerts for every missed call or message. They are simple enough to turn off, however. Both toggles are located at the bottom of the 'Notifications' section of Skype's settings.
The settings are a relatively small addition, but they're likely to be useful for anyone who relies on Skype for at least a portion of their messaging but might not be plugged in at all times.

Skype for Business includes a tagging feature that allows you to tag people for alerts when their status changes. The alert is a pop-up on your screen with the contact's picture and a message that tells you the status has changed. If the person you've tagged isn't already in your contacts list, they'll be added to it.
Tag a contact for status change alerts
Go to your contacts list or use the search field to find the person you want to tag.

Untag a contact
If you no longer need to be notified of a person's status changes, you can untag them to stop the alerts. There are two ways to untag a contact. Either click Untag when the alert pops up or follow the steps below.

Right-click the person's contact information. and select Tag for Status Change Alerts.
Note the checkmark next to Tag for Status Change Alerts. Click it to untag the contact.
